So it has been almost three months since my last post but I'm finally on uni break and so I thought I'd use this time productively to update. May and June weren't great months for me at all. They were in fact probably the most two tiring months of my life. Actually, May was the tough month, June was the month of trying to get back on my feet. The good news is that life is slowly returning back to normal.
Work and uni occupy majority of my time as per usual - nothing new about that. I don't know how I managed to work till 10:30pm and then head to uni to work on my project till 3am. I did that 5 days a week in my last 2 weeks of uni. Looking back at it now I'm not sure where all the strength to finish came from... I think I was thinking of this:
Though in my case the triangle would be altered to include money, which I picked along with a social life over good grades and enough sleep. I got okay grades.
Uni break feels great though. I'm trying to absorb every minute of it. I don't even mind that I'm working 6 days a week because at least I'm not coming home to uni work. I can just empty my mind and watch TV. Yes, I have so much TV to catch up on. Today I watched an entire season of Mad Men and I forgot how good it was.
I ate out a lot in June/July so here are some photos of Sydney eats.
L-R: Fried chicken pieces from a Korean shop in Strathfield, the KFC double which wasn't so nice.
Belgian waffles at What The Fudge in Canley Heights.
L - R: Family dinner in Burwood celebrating Dad's return + sister's discharge from hospital, my favourite dish at Bau Truong in Cabramatta.
Brunch at Ichiban Boshi, QVB.
L - R: After work I run to a bakery in Chinatown that slashes prices on cakes before they close, BBQ pork with noodles from Sedap in Central Park food court post-project submission & zero sleep.
Hmm, not a photo of food but what my days in the computer labs looked like over the last 2 weeks of June.
Dinner at Taste of Shanghai, World Square. My goodness xiaolongbao is amazing.
My go-to lunch break meal: $7.80 at Menya, George St.
Yummy monthly dinner at Spice I Am, Darlinghurst.
Celebrating the end of the semester at Tapa Vino with prosciutto and sangria.
Ending with a watermelon ice block I picked up from a Japanese grocer.
I started playing dota 2 with a workmate. He's been teaching me how to play and honestly I didn't think I'd like it as much as I do. It's still frustrating to play at times because there's so much to learn, but it's been interesting so far. I am dying all the time but we only ever play 1 on 1 so it's not too embarrassing. I was excited to play with Spencer actually (who is my first ever online friend btw, I think it's cool) since he introduced me to the game, but our timezones are so different that I guess it's just hard to find time to play together.
Umm what else is new... well I can tell you all what I'm doing for the rest of the week: working and devoting my time to TV, probably going out for drinks on Friday night, and sleeping over Chloe's on Sunday through to Wednesday when I go back to work. She took annual leave so we could have a 3 day weekend so we'll probably chill in the spa, watch The Grand Budapest, go to Liverpool with her Dad to pick up Indian desserts. Gosh, I miss
jalebi.
I was meant to go to the snow next weekend with my family but I forgot to take work off and now it's too late. So, family is going without me, which I don't mind too much. I want to work actually. I've been trying to save up for a new camera for the past month but it feels like forever since I last bought something for myself. It'll be nice to stay in for the weekend and save some $$$. Pump up some music at home and hold a party for one.
Alyssa.
One Response to This is not entirely about food
I am so glad I am reading this update as I eat one of my favourite foods. No cravings, woot!
Good work in filling in the missing months. You're our most active and elaborate blogger! *thumbs up*
