This is not entirely about food

So it has been almost three months since my last post but I'm finally on uni break and so I thought I'd use this time productively to update. May and June weren't great months for me at all. They were in fact probably the most two tiring months of my life. Actually, May was the tough month, June was the month of trying to get back on my feet. The good news is that life is slowly returning back to normal.

Work and uni occupy majority of my time as per usual - nothing new about that. I don't know how I managed to work till 10:30pm and then head to uni to work on my project till 3am. I did that 5 days a week in my last 2 weeks of uni. Looking back at it now I'm not sure where all the strength to finish came from... I think I was thinking of this:

Though in my case the triangle would be altered to include money, which I picked along with a social life over good grades and enough sleep. I got okay grades.

Uni break feels great though. I'm trying to absorb every minute of it. I don't even mind that I'm working 6 days a week because at least I'm not coming home to uni work. I can just empty my mind and watch TV. Yes, I have so much TV to catch up on. Today I watched an entire season of Mad Men and I forgot how good it was.

I ate out a lot in June/July so here are some photos of Sydney eats.

L-R: Fried chicken pieces from a Korean shop in Strathfield, the KFC double which wasn't so nice.

Belgian waffles at What The Fudge in Canley Heights.

L - R: Family dinner in Burwood celebrating Dad's return + sister's discharge from hospital, my favourite dish at Bau Truong in Cabramatta.

Brunch at Ichiban Boshi, QVB.

L - R: After work I run to a bakery in Chinatown that slashes prices on cakes before they close, BBQ pork with noodles from Sedap in Central Park food court post-project submission & zero sleep.

Hmm, not a photo of food but what my days in the computer labs looked like over the last 2 weeks of June.

Dinner at Taste of Shanghai, World Square. My goodness xiaolongbao is amazing.

My go-to lunch break meal: $7.80 at Menya, George St.

Yummy monthly dinner at Spice I Am, Darlinghurst.

Celebrating the end of the semester at Tapa Vino with prosciutto and sangria.

Ending with a watermelon ice block I picked up from a Japanese grocer.

I started playing dota 2 with a workmate. He's been teaching me how to play and honestly I didn't think I'd like it as much as I do. It's still frustrating to play at times because there's so much to learn, but it's been interesting so far. I am dying all the time but we only ever play 1 on 1 so it's not too embarrassing. I was excited to play with Spencer actually (who is my first ever online friend btw, I think it's cool) since he introduced me to the game, but our timezones are so different that I guess it's just hard to find time to play together.

Umm what else is new... well I can tell you all what I'm doing for the rest of the week: working and devoting my time to TV, probably going out for drinks on Friday night, and sleeping over Chloe's on Sunday through to Wednesday when I go back to work. She took annual leave so we could have a 3 day weekend so we'll probably chill in the spa, watch The Grand Budapest, go to Liverpool with her Dad to pick up Indian desserts. Gosh, I miss jalebi.

I was meant to go to the snow next weekend with my family but I forgot to take work off and now it's too late. So, family is going without me, which I don't mind too much. I want to work actually. I've been trying to save up for a new camera for the past month but it feels like forever since I last bought something for myself. It'll be nice to stay in for the weekend and save some $$$. Pump up some music at home and hold a party for one.

Smartphone, SmartTV, Smartwatch...

It's been a month since I've updated, and it's been two months since Alyssa has updated. "I will try to write a post once a week or at least once a month!" she said....

Anyway, I haven't mentioned that I started kung fu class 2.5 years ago. Gotta fill in the gaps! So! I started with jow ga, which is a similar style to hung ga (think of earth benders in Avatar: The Last Airbender or Tekken's Feng.) And I just started wing chun a month ago. No footage yet of me doing forms; maybe there'll be one next lunar new year. But I now go to kung fu classes 4 times a week.

Last Tuesday, I went to see Vivid for the first time. (Well, second time but I only saw one light show last year and it was disappointing and the night ended with me at a cheap Internet cafe playing Warcraft Dota with 2 offline friends. The last 4 words saved me from ultimate sadness.)

Yesterday I received my Pebble smartwatch! Along with showing me the time (and date), it can also receive notifications from my phone (it supports iOS and Android) via Bluetooth, such as calls (and being able to accept or reject it), messages, and reminders. Because the display uses the same technology as the Kindle Paperwhite, it can last for several days before needing another recharge. So if you're wondering why I didn't wait for the Motorola's Moto360, it's because of that. Also, having Bluetooth on will drain the phone's battery more, especially if your phone doesn't support Bluetooth 4.0 yet. My phone already can't survive a full day without needing to be charged.

Charging up my smartwatch for the first time. I was also playing around with watchfaces.
Tells me the temperature as well as the time and date by default. The temperature data is received from my phone. If I've disabled Bluetooth on my phone, the weather graphic will be replaced by the classic loading icon, which I will not show because this post already contains enough pictures.
I also bought a mechanical keyboard so I can type longer without feeling my hands cramping up, especially when I'm coding. It's also a lot noisier. Haha.

The new keyboard. Looks like the old Apple keyboard, yes. It also has a numpad, and three 2.0 USB slots. Which is good because my two 3.0 USB slots on my ultrabook are taken up by this keyboard and mouse. I need the extra USB slots for other stuff.

The Macbook keyboard. I also had to put labels on the Control and Option keys because I never remember the symbols for them.
Technology aside, I have been eating well. Tonight I had a wagyu burger with beer-battered chips.

On a more honest note, I've gained a soft spot for mango pancakes since my trip to Queensland during 2013's lunar new year and would order some whenever I go for yum cha. I've been frequenting the new Vinh Phat place at Cabramatta.

Can someone else update now? Fill in the gaps, people!

P.S. I found our MySpace link and have put it on the sidebar, along with a shortcut to create a post (after logging in).

Perhaps a fifth person came and took it out? Oh, and a sixth person could've helped!

I was meant to update this blog yesterday but I succumbed to a food coma...

Anyway, yesterday Sandra, Diem and I went out to have dinner at El Jannah's. Diem has said there's a cheaper place called Hot Rocks on Canterbury Road, and where the chicken is juicer so we shall make a visit there next time. However, asldkghalskdgj, CHICKEN AND GARLIC SAUCE AND TOBOULI AND ASLKDGHALSDKGJ. Now I feel like having El Jannah's again or go on an adventure to find Hot Rocks but ... lazy. Oh yes, most of us have cars now!

Sandra and Diem have graduated already and are working full-time, and have noted how they hardly go on the Internet these days. What is happening to us? I haven't been playing as many games as I'd wanted this year too despite taking study leave to focus on full-time work... which leads to...

I finally got a developer role! And I get to wear casual in the office (yayy!). The company's called WiseTech Global. :) I've now got enough monies to afford games, consoles, software and hardware for my needs.

Guess which game I got the title of this post from. Also, the light in my room is glaring at Sleeping Dogs. Awesome game though. I got it for myself on my ... 22nd birthday. That took a while to recollect...
Ignore the neglected Samsung S2. Its battery is dying.
Past Jenny would never have guessed that Future Jenny is using a Macbook, and took these pictures with a iPhone.
I also visited Indonesia and Singapore with Regina, my girlfriend, in the past couple of years. We also went to the 2013 Anime Festival Asia Indonesia (AFAID) held in Jakarta to see Kalafina (!!!) live.

So close but so far away ... still, HIKARUUU *swoons*
And I'm planning to visit Japan to see them again. They have voices of angels.

Happy sigh.

There, I updated -- after 3 years.

A sixth person may have helped, or may not.

P.S. To make a post, go on www.blogger.com and then login. Everything else is self-explanatory after that.

P.S.S. I mucked around with theme templates and it killed the myspace link. I have no idea what link it was. Sorry. D: Couldn't restore to the old theme because I thought it was automatically backed up...

Carla Zampatti opens Sydney MBFW photos & other things.

Diem got free tickets to the Carla Zampatti show which opened Sydney Mercedes Benz Fashion Week last Sunday! It was held at Carriageworks which was converted really nicely. I felt like we were in there for 15 minutes because everything was so fast paced. There was free drinks and canapes that went around and I was starving so I picked up whatever I saw before the show.

----

I just finished work at my new job. There are a few cute guys who've tickled my fancy but I don't even want to know how old they are. Everyone is so much younger. I'm an old woman who needs to move on. I was finally assigned to the same bar with one of the cute guys so I made sure to properly introduce myself today (took me courage and time and a lot of practice in my head). He told me his name, then paused, and then said "hello!" I giggled. I was so ashamed I looked away and hoped that someone would come to the bar to distract me. He looks young though... And I also can't tell if he's gay. Young and gay. Two things that might arise as a problem if I were to pursue him. #foreveralone

More importantly, I am disappointed in you guys for not updating the blog! Our audience needs to be updated! There are major gaps in our stories! Exclamation points for added urgency!

Everyone is just busy I guess. And I'm on mid semester break!

Three Years Into The Future

We're in the future now.

I have an iPhone 4s (a bit outdated, I know) which is touch screen(!!!!) ASTOUNDED?! And Kakaotalk has become the new MSN. Instagram the new photo blog. And Facebook has become the new gossiping friend. Times have changed, but I think a lot of us are still the same girls that made this blog 6-7 years ago. I mean, I still like Matthew Bellamy. It's not as strong (curse you Kate Hudsoooonnnnn *shakes fists*), but he holds a permanent place in my heart now. I also still really like eating unfortunately, as my emotions depend on it.

So the single goal of the blog this month is to get Jess to say something here.

Also I'd like to go back to Jenny's Asian Kitchen for $7.50 lunch special of satay chicken with fried rice. HOMG. And then take away a mixed plate from Jasmin 1, then perhaps run to Woolies to quickly grab some vegetable chips. They're my current obsession but they're $4.19 for a half packet of dried up vegetables. I know. You're probably wondering if it's worth it. It probably isn't. But I make money now, so whatevaaaaaa.

My favourite thing to do is throw my money onto the dining table after I get the bill. It makes me feel like I have a lot.

I have slept 7 hours total in the past 48 hours because I have trouble with time management (GUILTY). Someone teach me some time management skills.

But my crit went surprisingly well. The worst thing about presentation day is that you think your work is good and appropriate and you're feeling quite confident up until you get to class to pin up and see the standards of everyone else. Then you get this weird pit in your stomach and heart palpitations that you can't seem to get rid of until after you present to your tutors. Then after you present they give you feedback and you really try to listen and take it all in but in that moment all you're thinking about is that it's over and you're relieved that it was positive feedback.

After class I went to have dinner with Chloe, Fiona, Steve and Fiona's 2 younger sisters at Chilli Man in Oatley. It was surprisingly good and it lived up to the hype surrounding it. It was Chloe's birthday and we opened 2 bottles of wine. I was a tomato.

Then Fiona drove us back to her house and I met her parents, who are practically Chloe's parents, so I really felt like the boyfriend meeting the parentals for the first time. Fiona baked Chloe a flourless chocolate cake which was so fucking good, and then she also made sticky date pudding with caramel sauce and ugh I died, I had 2.

Slept over Chloe's and we caught a train into the city together because I had work. I had a 3 hour break so I decided to do some shopping, and it saddens me that there's nothing that I want to buy. So I went back to work feeling disappointed with the world (aka Sydney retail).

I'm pretty darn tired now, but all-nighters must run in my genetic makeup because my mother is sewing and isn't sleeping tonight so I'm keeping her company. She said she'll finish before 4am and then I have to drive her to the factory in Penrith. IT'S LIKE GARMENT FACTORY SLAVE LABOUR.

I will try to write a post once a week or at least once a month!
